What is Respite Care?

Respite Care is a form of professional short-term care designed to provide support to individuals who need it for a few weeks or months. Our dedicated care team is readily available to support residents and alleviate as much stress as possible.

Respite care may be appropriate when someone is recovering from an injury or illness, or when the primary carer requires a much-needed break from their caregiving duties. During their stay at a care home or nursing home, residents will receive a personalised care plan to ensure precise and effective care.

Respite Care FAQs

The length of stay for respite care will vary depending on the needs of the individual and the availability of respite care beds. We can offer respite care from a minimum stay of four weeks, up to a few months which will be determined by an individual care assessment.

Respite care is available to individuals who require assistance with daily living following a hospital stay or for caregivers to receive a break from their caregiving responsibilities. If a loved one requires full-time care, respite care can be used to trial a care home for 4 weeks to see if it’s right for their needs.

During a resident’s stay, the individual will receive assistance with daily living tasks, such as bathing, dressing and mobility. Nursing care can also be provided, depending on the individual’s medical needs. Respite residents also have access to an activities programme that aims to promote mental and physical well-being.
